It is advisable to start sorting thru things before packing things in boxes and storing them in a self-storage unit. Before starting, you need four boxes where you can put your stuff in. Label each box: keep, donate, throw and trash. Throw and trash may be the same although trash may be paper works and old bills that may need to be shredded before disposing. Throw things away that cannot be donated and is of no use whatsoever. Donate items like old clothes, old toys or other items that can use a second home and keep means items that are of sentimental value to you.
